Holiday Spirit in the Pearl District
‘Tis the season for coming together as a community. Winter has always been a little challenging but after a year like 2020, the need for us to reach out to our friends and neighbors is stronger than ever. We’re honored to be a part of the Pearl District community, which is doing two really wonderful things this holiday season.
The KGW Great Toy Drive
Businesses all over the city have banded together with KGW/8 to gather toys for local children this year. The goal of this 35 year-old tradition is to collect toys for less fortunate families in Oregon and SW Washington. If we all work together, every child in need can have presents this holiday season. Downtown Self Storage is hosting a drop-off at both the Davis St. and Johnson St. locations, or you can donate online until December 18th. All donated toys will be distributed with the help of over 130 local nonprofit organizations and hundreds of dedicated volunteers. More info:
The Pearl District Neighborhood Association Bringing Back Business Drawing
Small businesses have had a hard time this year. The Pearl District Neighborhood Association has raised $7,750 in gift cards from local businesses and is giving them out until June of 2021! That money raised by the Neighborhood Association gets injected straight back into the local economy and allows for our friends and neighbors to keep the lights on in the Pearl.
