Kick-Off Summer in the Pearl District!
Start Your Holiday Weekend with Art
Beginning July 1st, the Pearl District is leaping to life! Now that the mask mandate has lifted and people can socialize normally again, let’s work on getting over the past year with some fun community events! Tomorrow and throughout the summer months, let’s connect with our community, support local artists, businesses, and each other. Start summer the right way: with lots of local art!
First Thursday - Support your local artists!
The First Thursday Street Gallery is back, organized by Urban Art Network. Come by 13th Avenue in the Pearl on July 1st for a fantastic array of artwork. On the first Thursday of each month, local artists will have their work on display, and everyone is welcome to wander up and down 13th Ave, enjoy a variety of food and beverages from the many eateries, meet the artists and pick up a unique piece of art!
The host of this dynamic gathering of creatives is Urban Art Network, a nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities for local artists. This long-running art organization is dedicated to creating opportunities for self-representing local artists and supports direct exchange between Artists, Patrons, and the community.
Phoenix Fridays
Rise from the ashes of 2020 with your friends and neighbors! ! Summertime art, food, and activities on 13th Ave in the Pearl District have expanded from First Thursday to now include Phoenix Fridays! Eight consecutive Friday evenings throughout the summer beginning on July 9th, 5 pm-9 pm. Phoenix Fridays’ will differ from the First Thursday Street Gallery-- the events will include a broader list of local artists, food, music, and local businesses together.
Booper Presents The Pearl Business Crawl
On Saturday, July 10th, Booper put together an outdoor event to bring visibility to the neighborhood businesses and have fun with the Pearl District community! There will be interactive experiences, a raffle, and more! The event moved from its original date for safety reasons due to the heat dome which loomed over Portland the past week.
Booper is a Pearl District focussed startup designed to "bring people together through their animals."
Frankly, who doesn't love dogs? And who hasn't struck up a great conversation with an interesting stranger at the dog park?
